Preparing children for school and enhancing their pre-reading skills

In our Prekindergarten (VPK) program, we focus on the development of the whole child to prepare them with all of the foundational skills that they will need in order to be successful in kindergarten. Problem solving, reasoning, questioning, and experimenting are just a few of the skills and qualities that children will develop at BCA. Our previous students and parents absolutely love the hands-on activities that our program incorporates, along with thematic learning experiences, which become educational memories they will forever cherish.

In this program, we teach:

  • letters and words
  • math concepts
  • valuable social skills with small group instruction
  • independent play
  • large-group activities

Children will hop, skip, and jump into kindergarten!

How This Program Supports Readiness
  • Daily lessons introduce pre-reading, writing, and number recognition in ways children can connect with easily.
  • Teachers use activities that help children focus, listen, and complete multi-step tasks with growing independence.
  • Group discussions and circle time improve speaking, listening, and turn-taking skills.
  • Children gain confidence through age-appropriate challenges and encouragement to express ideas.
  • Exposure to a classroom routine helps ease the future transition to full-day kindergarten settings.
What VPK Offers Before Kindergarten

Voluntary Pre-K gives children the chance to practice classroom behaviors, strengthen early reading and math skills, and get used to a full learning day before starting kindergarten. Because the program is state-supported, it also gives families access to strong early education without financial strain. Consistent attendance helps children settle into structure and routine, important foundations for the school years ahead.
